otherwise known as 'page saturation'. It is only these pages that will come up in the returned results when visitors are searching. Less than 10% of all web pages produced are actually indexed!
Typically, search engines will crawl every 6 weeks, more frequently for websites that change content regularly. The major search engines are Google, Bing and Yahoo and they account for over 90% of all internet searches worldwide.

The total number of pages in each search engines index that contain a link to your site, including your own website. These could typically come from directories, partner sites, companies with links on their site to yours, forums, on-line advertisements etc.
